This FAQ page provides helpful information on the type of 121 counselling and therapy I provide, booking, rescheduling and cancelling sessions…and more.

 

1. How do I book a therapy session with Leonie?

Booking a therapy session with Leonie is simple and easy! You can book your session directly through our website. Just navigate to the "Book Here", select the type of therapy you need (individual therapy, business coaching, etc.), choose a time that works best for you, and complete the booking process. You’ll receive an immediate confirmation email with your session details.

2. What is the difference between therapy and counselling?

There is no fixed answer to this question, they are both similar as they involve being with clients to help them understand what it causing suffering and find ways to live more healthy and happier lives. Psychotherapy is a post-graduate qualification whilst counselling is an undergraduate qualification, the requirements to complete a psychotherapy qualification takes longer to achieve than completing a counselling course.

 

3. How long will I need therapy?

Sessions can be either short term – 6-12 weeks, normally when someone needs to work on a specific issue or problem that is affecting them or long term lasting for a few months, sometimes years.

 

4. What will 121 sessions involve?

Our early sessions will be a chance for us to get to know each other and explore what is affecting you in life that is causing you discomfort and/or emotional pain. As we build trust between us we will work on understanding how you experience your difficulty, both in mind and within your physical sensations. Over time you will develop awareness of behaviours and emotions that you have developed and where they come from. This new, deep insight will underpin the opportunity for you to make changes in how you are in the world.

5. What type of 121 therapy do you do?

I use a range of approaches in my sessions depending on what is happening between us. I specialise in Gestalt Therapy where we work relationally so that you can gain awareness of how you relate to others and the world through our connection. Gestalt can be a dynamic, authentic and creative way of providing support that is graded to a pace that works for you.

6. What makes your therapy ‘Transformative’?

I spent many years in counselling chairs as a client having the counsellor listen to my problems. Whilst I felt less lonely there, I didn’t experience change in the issues that were affecting me. When we work together I will share my awareness of you and how I experience you in relation to me. This information often gives clients the ability to notice things about themselves that were previously out of awareness. With new information clients begin to see the world differently and get in contact with their uniqueness, and sense of belonging. This self-knowledge and acceptance provides the ground of support for you to take control of your life and address  your unmet needs.

 

 


7. What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

If you need to reschedule your session, please do so at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. You can easily reschedule through your booking confirmation email or by logging into your account on the website. If rescheduling is not possible within 24 hours, please contact us as soon as possible, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

 


8. Can I cancel my session?

Yes, you can cancel your session, but we kindly ask that cancellations be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee. To cancel, simply click the "Cancel" button in your booking confirmation email or contact us directly via the website. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment may be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.

 


9. What happens if I miss my session?

If you miss your session without providing prior notice or rescheduling, the session will be charged in full. We understand that emergencies happen, so if there is an extenuating circumstance, please reach out to us directly, and we will work with you to find a solution.

 


10. Do you offer refunds for therapy sessions?

Due to the nature of the services provided, we do not offer refunds for therapy sessions once they have been booked and confirmed. If you need to cancel a session with more than 24 hours' notice, you may reschedule or apply your payment to a future session. In cases of extreme emergency or extenuating circumstances, please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
